Is anything more annoying than having to reapply lipgloss throughout the day to maintain that “glossy don’t you want to kiss me look?” Short of Mac Lipglass which feels like liquid cement and rips hairs out of ones head if the wind blows and attaches the hair on the lips, there is an absence of long lasting lipglosses available in the marketplace. Sure, there was a time in the 80′s when my friend and I created lipgloss by mixing lipsticks and desitin but like all the other things in life that I could have invented like Juicy velour sweatsuits or the plastic adornments for crocs, the moment of brilliance never hit me. Thank God for the cosmetic corporations which keep plugging away to invent new products with lots of promise and slick packaging to lure the consumer. I am one of those people who constantly falls victim to exciting new products that promise to transform me. The other night, husband came home with an event take home bag filled of brand new L’Oreal makeup products. One lipgloss, in particular, looked mighty interesting to me as it promised to last six hours. Six hours, I smirked and tore open the packaging. Well, like the description promised, L’Oreal Infallible Plumping Gloss, shines and plumps for many hours. In fact, it is still on my lips from lunchtime today. It is not sticky nor restricting and comes in a multitude of flattering shades. Number 106 aka “plumped pink” is a particularly nice shade of sheer pink. The actual applicator allows for a generous amount to go onto the lip so it is easy to do quickly and without a mirror. So hurry over to CVS or Long’s as L’Oreal is a drugstore product. Thank god, as by now, we all know that department store make-up and drugstore make-up are made by the same companies. It is only the price and the packaging which differs.
