MISS LEMONAID: ROOTS OR NO ROOTS

Dear Miss Lemonaid, I notice in your pictures that you NEVER have root growth in your hair.  What are your thoughts on letting hair color grow out for a period of time?

Dear Color Confused,

I believe that hair color and hair styles are personal choices and there are no rules.  The best part of hair is that it grows back, nothing is permanent.  Hair provides such an opportunity for experimentation and expression.  Look at me, I love to experiment.  I went from Barbie blonde long to soccer mom bob to my current look of short / rock and roll.  The only thing that has stayed the same for me is the platinum color.  I do know that my choice in hair color looks severe to many people.  However, my eye is trained when I look in the mirror to see white blonde. And it works for me.  This leads me to the crux of the question- root growth.  I am not one who likes the root look on me.  Fresh hair color is my most important item on the maintenance check list.  In my opinion, I look less tired and dull when my roots are fresh.  As much as I love the Boho chic look of long wispy hair with an inch of root growth that I see on other girls, it does not work on me.  God knows, adopting that look would be healthier on my hair and friendlier to my wallet.  The most important thing with hair is to change it up and own your look.  Change is confidence!
