Dinner parties and engagements (whether at a home or a restaurant) are more successful with round tables. Rectangles are not conducive to the entire party being able to chat and mingle without changing seats throughout the night. I have been at dinner parties where I get a phone call or an email the next day from a friend complaining that we did not get to catch up. The worse part (or I guess best part) for many people is that the men and women congregate at separate ends of the table. Why not just do a girl’s night then? I used to chuckle when at a restaurant with several couples, Husband would demand that we sit boy, girl, boy. He loves to yenta with the chicks! Here is where the problem lies: there are not enough restaurants with round tables. Sure, we can frequent the old school dives like The Buggy Whip, but the green goddess dressing alone would send you running to the decrepit restrooms. Somebody please, send me some suggestions of restaurants with round tables or even a triangle so I can plan a dinner party! Yeah, yeah- you will be invited.
