Need a gift idea? Some people just nail it on the gift giving giving front every time. One friend, in particular, has always wowed me on her gift choices (for moi). Fresh, chic, creative and genius- lucky me! This year for the big 40, DK knocked my socks off. Not like any of you loyal sippers need to be reminded, but I do strive to be a social media maven. In my quest to continue to get other peeps to take a “sip”, I no longer have to whip out a business card. Instead, I am now the proud owner of a rose gold name plate necklace with my twitter handle… yep! Now when people check out my baubles, they will have double meaning. Love it DK and love you more….. (Clearly my next post or beauty experiment needs to be about how a person’s chest and neck reveal a person’s true age! Ouch.)

BEST BRONZING BRUSH EVER!!

I don’t know about you all but I suck at putting bronzer on my face. Maybe it’s because I am so pale, but the spots of make-up on my face tend to look muddy. I have tried millions of bronzers all which have continued to fail me. My husband would tell me that I looked like a clown and that I should sign up for make-up courses STAT. Then, a thought occurred to me, was the make-up brush the true villain. I had tried all shapes and materials of brushes, none of which were worth writing home. Until… ta da- that odd looking wide square brush instantly caused my knees to buckle out of curiosity. One swipe per cheek and my face was like a brilliant bronzed masterpiece. There IS a hitch though.. it is super expensive. If I was Rachel Zoe, I could come up with a parallel universe option but, I am not. So until I discover a great alternative, check out the Claudio Riaz instant face brush and join me on my search. The square shape is where it is at!

THE MEANING OF MOTHER’S DAY

Mother’s day is very dear to me. As a little girl, it was the perfect opportunity to show my mom and Grandma how much I loved them. It has become even more special now that I am a Mother. Yesterday, after a delicious breakfast of bacon and baguette, the family relaxed around the house. My boys gave me their beautiful cards and all was good. My oldest son is somewhat of a deep thinker and definitely a sensitive old soul. (Get ready girls!) He was cuddling with me and asked my why was Mother’s Day so important to me. Wasn’t my birthday more important? I thought about it for a second and smiled within my heart. Yes, birthdays for kids are THE most important, I explained. However, being a Mommy or a Daddy or a Grandparent truly trumps any other holiday or occasion. Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate my most favorite role. It is a day to be acknowledged for being what I hope and strive to be. I explained to him how proud I was to be his mother and that nothing else gives me as much joy and satisfaction. It is a day for everyone to sit back and appreciate and adore Mom. I asked him if he thought I was a good Mom. His earnest answer broke my heart into a million happy pieces. ”You are the best Mom ever. I love you with all of my heart and you love me for me. I am really lucky to have you as my Mom.” My youngest son’s poem caused happy tears as well.

“My mom is as sweet as a teddy bear. She is as beautiful as a swan. My mom is smart like a seeing eye dog. But, most of all, my mom is as loving as a panda.”

Ahhhh, I am so blessed! I hope everyone had a wonderful day as well.

Simply perfection! Every few months, I tire of my arsenal of face make-up and tinted moisturizers. For some reason, the dewiness that the make-up once promised no longer appears and the spots that I used to be able to cover no longer fade away. What gives? Time for a brand switcheroo…. I lurk at Sephora, CVS, and the Barney’s make-up counters regularly. It was a Barney’s kind of a day and I noticed a new cosmetic brand counter. Kind of like a magnetic pull, I was drawn to the new shiny red bottles and I did not leave empty handed. The true test is if I am still reaching for that product a week later. MY SHITTY FRIEND

Some people are just out for themselves! Case in point— some friends point out if a friend has food in their teeth, some don’t! Lunching today with a CLOSE friend at Porta Via was something I looked forward to when I woke up and saw the perfect weather. We were lucky enough to score a patio seat. Things were just dandy. The Prosecco wine was flowing, the grilled tomatoes perfectly charred, and the people watching was fantastic. With the feel of summer in the air and the remainder of my spray tan still in effect, I dressed accordingly. I was feeling hot to trot. I noticed some older dude checking me out throughout lunch- I was smiling to myself as I couldn’t wait to tell Husband that I still had “it.” After a few hair flips and a giggle, the waiter cleared our plates. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my voyeur starting to walk towards me. I wondered what he was going to say as he approached me. He signaled for me to wipe my mouth. I did not understand what he was saying till he yelled out across the entire patio that I should wipe the cottage cheese from my lips. Mr. Right (clearly not him) could come along at any second. A. I was horrible embarrassed. B. I already have Mr. Right and could he not see my ring (note to Husband, guess I need a bigger diamond!) C. It was not cottage cheese you nimrod, it was Burratta. and D. I guess my lunch partner was NOT the friend that I thought!

The other day I was staring at my friend’s I Phone as the word ICE came up on her caller ID. With visions of Vanilla Ice in my mind, I started giving her a hard time, wondering if ICE was her husband’s term of endearment. I started asking my other friend’s if they had an ICE.
